Crickey! Australia Zoo wildlife invade airport lounge
A TOUCH of the Sunshine Coast came to the Brisbane International Airport.
In the lead up to Steve Irwin Day on Sunday, November 15 a team from Australia Zoo dropped into the airport to welcome international arrivals with a koala, python, cockatoo and a bluetongue lizard.
The animals were a hit with passengers who arrived on flights from New Zealand, the USA and across Asia.
Airport information ambassadors donned the zoo's iconic khaki shirts to greet guests - which they will be wearing throughout November.
Australia Zoo entertainment coordinator Olivia Degn said the guests to the airport were a big hit.
"They are absolutely thrilled," she said.
"If you come from a completely different country and you arrive into Australia and you see a snake, a cockatoo, a bluetongue lizard and a koala - Australian icons in the flesh, to be able to pat them and get up close with them - they are absolutely thrilled."
