Cross beats the lot in short track

MOTOR RACING: Waterford driver David Cross drove the fastest car in the Short Circuit Motor Sport Association meeting at Morgan Park Raceway at the weekend.

He was in a 1976 Bowen Hay P6 historic race car and recorded a time of two minutes, 46 seconds, for four laps of the 1.2km circuit.

Warwick driver Angela O'Mara was first in pre 1974 classic touring cars (0-1300cc) in a 1972 Datsun 1200 Coupe and Chris Balint 2nd in a 1992 Nissan GTIR in junior over 2000cc.

Kieran Locke was third in sports sedan in a 1993 Skyline and Jason O'Mara was third in improved production (0-2000cc) in a 1973 Datsun 1200 Coupe.

The meeting attracted 133 drivers from across southern Queensland and northern New South Wales.

Queensland won the shoot out by one second against New South Wales.

The third round of the series this year will be at Carnell Raceway, Stanthorpe, on August 1-2.
