CROWNED: Warwick's best and brightest lights

A MAGICAL garden chock-a-block full of Christmas treasures took out this year's Warwick Daily News Christmas Lights Competition.

Lynden and Craig Pavy, the owners of the stunning display at 64 Law Rd, were this week crowned the winners by a team of judges.

Their front yard turns into a sea of Christmas cheer at this time of year, which they start putting together in August.

It is filled with about 100 Christmas trees carefully placed, lights strung from roof to trees and a shed full of Christmas toys.

Picnic benches so those who wander through can stop and take it all in.

But it would take hours, with little knick knacks lining every surface.

Mrs Pavy said most of the decorations were picked up from op shops over the years, but some were also handmade by the couple.

The sleigh, nutcracker, paintings and peek-a-boos were all made by the pair.

"I love a challenge, I love to look at something and think I can make something out of that,” Mrs Pavy said.

"When the shed is not decorated it's my workshop.”

The couple have been decorating their house for six years, initially starting for their grandchildren.

Now most have them have moved away but the couple keep sharing their cheer with the other little ones in the community.

"The kids love it, they really love it,” Mrs Pavy said.

"They come up and talk to you and give you hugs, they come back a week later and do it all again.”

Mr and Mrs Pavy won a $150 Visa gift card for their effort, but for them it's all about putting smiles on faces.

"People say they didn't have any spirit of Christmas until they come out and see the lights, not just ours but the others as well,” she said.

"If you go to the trouble of putting something up, it gladdens the heart.”
