Crowning glory on the catwalk at Fashionarty

WHEN Juanita Faint's colourful wearable art pieces hit the runway later this month, she'll be looking to take home the Fashionarty crown for a second year in a row.

The Warwick artist has been sewing, painting and crafting away on four creations for the Warwick Artist Group Wearable Arts 'Fashionarty' awards, on in three weeks time.

Last year Mrs Faint won the fantasy section and she's hoping to do just as well on September 25.

"For the fantasy section this year I'm working with paper and fabric - on another piece there's lots of feathers and lycra," she said.

"For couture I've been working on a hand-painted silk piece."

The talented artist has also created a piece for the sustainability section using recycled fabric.

This year's event has attracted around 70 entries from artists across Queensland.

Mrs Faint said the highlight of Fashionarty was seeing what other people created.

"It's always a big surprise to see what people come up with," she said.

"There's not a lot of opportunity for artists in Warwick to show off their textile work where they're not confined to any limits of creativity."

The main event of Fashionarty is the wearable art parade in the Vijayadev Yogendra Auditorium on Friday, September 25, from 6.30pm.

Fashionarty parade tickets are available from Art on King for $25 each.

There will also be a static display of the works in the Vijayadev Yogendra Auditorium at the School of Total Education on Saturday, September 26, from 10am-4pm.

Tickets are $5 each.
