Cunningham club to host 55 teams in polocrosse
IN sport, usually fewer than expected turn up but this weekend Cunningham Polocrosse Club expected 40 teams for its multi-horse carnival and ended up with 55.
I guess interest in polocrosse is growing. In many horse sports, the greatest growth is in the female ranks.
The Cunningham No1 team, which starts this morning at Bony Mountain, includes four women.
Motorcycles in town
THE Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland will be in Warwick for round 2 of the Southern Downs Series this weekend at Morgan Park Raceway.
The big bikes will go up to 250kmh or thereabouts.
As is generally the case for club events, there is free admission to the series round.
Eventing coming
THE Warwick Horse Trials Club has 140 nominations so far for the Inglewood Quarries One Day Event on April 8–9.
The club is expecting another 40 entries before nominations close on Monday.
Next weekend’s event is one of three for the year.
Horsepower winners
FOUR winners from horsepower sports will be honoured at the Daily News/Warwick Credit Union Senior Sports Star of the Year dinner at the Warwick RSL on April 18.
Horsepower monthly winners are Matt Campbell (motor racing), Ben Tapp (campdrafting), Michael Maher (rodeo) and Amy Bradfield (pony club/showjumping).
