Cunningham Hwy repairs are set to begin

WITH work on Cunningham's Gap completed, the Department of Transport and Main Roads are focusing on the long-term repairs needed to sections of other roads in the region affected by the extreme wet weather events of 2010-2011 and 2012.

Work is starting this week on damaged sections of the Cunningham Hwy north of Aratula, between Silverdale and Fassifern.

These works will ensure the Cunningham Hwy provides road users with a smoother safer ride and a road better able to withstand extreme weather events.

Repair work is under way at the intersection of the Cunningham Hwy and Kelly Rd South at Silverdale, with work starting in March on the Cunningham Hwy south of the intersection with Carter Rd in Aratula west to the helipad at Clumber.

Delays of around 15 minutes at each site are anticipated.

Single lane traffic will be in operation at the worksites.

Signage will be in place and traffic controllers on site 24 hours a day.
