Cunningham Pony Club gymkhana great day for Ellen

ELLEN Cooper is in her 15th year of pony club and loving it.

Yesterday, she competed in the 17-25 years class at her own club gymkhana, Cunningham.

“I have been inspired by my family to compete in pony club and polocrosse. My cousins Carly and Daniel Cooper are both in Albury playing in the nationals in polocrosse this weekend,” she said.

As to her favourite event, Ellen lists Stockman’s Challenge. In pony club, riders never get bored doing the Stockman’s Challenge as there is always something different. Every event changes.

After starting at the Cunningham Pony Club at the age of four, Ellen said she was going to quit a few years ago but had carried on.

“I keep going as I just like riding horses,” she said.

Now her primary focus is as an instructor, doing the work to help produce riders for all the horsepower sports the Warwick area is famous for.

The Cunningham Pony Club Gymkhana at Bony Mountain Recreation Reserve attracted 74 riders.
