Win for Maroons at nationals

CUNNINGHAM player Robyn Cooper played strongly in the winning Queensland mixed masters team at the polocrosse nationals.

The Maroons beat New South Wales 19-16 in the final yesterday at Ballarat, Victoria.

Warwick Polocrosse Club president Les Fraser watched the match and said Cooper had an excellent game in the final.

In the men’s competition, Queensland went down 21-16 to NSW.

“There was nothing in it to the last chukka,” Fraser said.

Warwick player Stuart Shepherd was strong in the number two position.

The Queensland women’s team went down 17-11 to Western Australia.

Western Australia and NSW are likely to meet in the men’s and ladies’ finals.

Queensland continued its winning streak in the under-21 open competition with a 19-12 victory against NSW.

Warwick player Colton Preston again led the side well.

The side has an all Warwick leadership group with Charlie Brook coach and Warwick Fraser the team manager.

In senior mixed, Queensland beat South Australia 25-8. Queensland lost 16-15 to Victoria in U24 womens.
