Springborg hits out at 'lazy' Labor

CURRENT member for Southern Downs Lawrence Springborg has thumped the ALP for its poor efforts in researching former candidate, Peter Watson.

Mr Springborg said it was a mistake on the ALP's behalf, and Mr Watson should never have been endorsed in the first place.

"This is the sloppiness of the Labor Party in Queensland; they should have done their homework," he said.

"Once again, a journalist doing a Google search was able to find his background, just like in Dr Patel's case."

Mr Springborg said he felt sorry for the Labor supporters.

"I feel sorry for the local Labor supporters. They wouldn't vote for me in a pink fit, but I feel sorry for them - they have been embarrassed by this," he said.

"We all know locally, Peter Watson comes from a life-long wave of family background and yes, sometimes you can miss things, but not something that can result from a simple Google search.

"Now they've (Labor) got egg all over their face."

Katter party candidate for Southern Downs Ade Larson said he wasn't concerned with the Peter Watson debacle.

"The issues surrounding other parties and their candidates is not something that I am concerned with," Mr Larson said.
