Cutters claim round robin in dramatic try
KILLARNEY Cutters star Michael Bloomfield scored a late try to ensure a final victory for his team in the Border Rugby League Robin Round at Charlie Andrews Oval, Killarney.
The round robin was played in conjunction with the visit of the Continuous Call Team to Cutters country.
Event co-ordinator John Towells said Saturday went well on and off the field.
"The games were all close in the round robin," he said.
"As well as the Continuous Call Team, retired internationals Colin Scott, Wally Fullerton-Smith, Shane Webcke and Killarney father and daughter international pair Rohan and Stephanie Hancock were in town and all mingled with the crowd and signed autographs."
In the final, there were no scores in the first half before Tenterfield scored in the 6th minute of the second half to lead 4-0.
Killarney then took the lead after Coedie Tandy scored under the posts and Dion Galloway converted.
Bloomfield scored with three minutes to go. Galloway converted for a 12-4 victory.
Coedie Tandy, John Trindall and Michael Marshall impressed for the home side along with Wesley Murray who played his first game in the BRL.

"Central division chairman Danny McGuire was at the round robin and said he was impressed with the standard of footy and the whole day."
