Cutters’ missing skipper confident

KILLARNEY Cutters coach John Trindall will be missing from today's semi-final against the Texas Terriers but is confident his side will make it through to next week without him.

The winner of today's match will play the loser of the other semi final between Tenterfield and Stanthorpe, while the loser will be eliminated.

"I'll be back next week and I'm confident we'll flog them," Trindall said. "I think we've got the better side in defence, attack and all-around.

"We've got our full-strength team back, we've got about eight guys coming back in this week and I think the boys can do without me.

"There's nothing I can do (about the suspension), but the boys have played well without me and I'm confident they'll do it again."

Trindall said he felt his side could also have the advantage out wide. "We've got a lot of quick blokes in the backs," he said.

"I think if our forwards can make ground up the middle and then we can spread it wide quickly, we could cause them some trouble there."

As confident as Trindall was, he was wary of Texas' main threat.

"We've got to stop Bennett Sutton," he said.

"He's very quick and nippy and is a big player for them so we need to shut him down."

Kick-off is at 2.30pm at Charlie Andrews Oval after the women's game (1.30pm).
