Cyclists take break at Allora

DESCRIBED by member Chris Shirley as a "rag-tag group of lycra clad reprobates called The GLOC", a group of nine cyclists called in to Allora for lunch on Saturday, after peddling a hefty total of kilometres to relax in the shelter shed of PL Travers Park in the heart of Allora.

A Brisbane-based cycling group, The GLOC is short for The Gentlemen's League of Cycling.

They regularly wind along the Southern Downs roads and are planning future rides in which Allora will feature again.

"We are hoping to have a look around town if possible," Chris said.

"Especially a visit to the local sports museum," which was beyond their schedule on Saturday.

Leaving Allora, the group steered towards Killarney, Queen Mary Falls and Carr's Lookout but, alas, not all went to plan.

"We struck a nasty headwind as soon as we got to the top of the range, which caused some suffering in the bunch, and so never arrived at the destination until after dark.

The team rated Allora a beautiful town and will be back in the near future
