Henry swims his hardest to sports star of the month
ASSUMPTION College student Henry Reardon has won a Daily News/Warwick Credit Union Junior Sports Star of the Month award after enjoying an outstanding year of swimming at state and national level.
He competed in the multi-class events at the state championships in Brisbane and won two silver medals and one bronze.
Henry missed out on gold in his 50m freestyle by .02 of a second.
His efforts in Brisbane secured him a spot in the Queensland team to compete in the Pacific School Games in Adelaide late in 2015.
Henry showed all the hard training at WIRAC during the year paid off with two gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the games.
Currently, he has swum under 32 seconds in competition and aims to break the 30-second barrier in the next year.
Long term, his aim is to make the Australian team for the Paralympics in Tokyo in 2020.
His best strokes are freestyle and butterfly.
Like many swimmers, he doesn't list breaststroke as a favourite but is keen to swim the individual medley and knows he must be good at all strokes.
"I will try my hardest to improve my breaststroke," he said.
