Daring tactics makes for thrilling racing
HORSE RACING: Something must've been in the water for Sydney jockeys over the past week.
Breakaway frontrunning tactics made two races much more exciting than the stock standard.
Firstly, Josh Parr produced a gem on Red Excitement to almost run Winx off her feet in the Chelmsford Stakes on Saturday.
Following on from this, Peter Wells took the initiative aboard Art of Excellence, opening up one of the biggest leads I've ever seen in a 1600m race at Warwick Farm, before scrambling in to win by a nose.
It's great to see hoops thinking outside of the box.
THE McEwen Stakes over 1000 metres at Moonee Valley has a number of quality thoroughbreds engaged, including the returning Houtzen, Hellbent and Russian Revolution, as well as Supido, Heatherly and Missrock.
With plenty of pace involved, look for Russian Revolution to sit just behind the speed and hit the line hard.
CHARITY BET OF THE WEEK
Whypeeo multied into Of the Day - Doomben Races 1 and 2 - $50 at $2.80
We're hoping to strike early in the day in Brisbane, with two shorties in the opening races.
Whypeeo should get a soft lead and boot away in the straight, whilst Of the Day gets another chance to show its exhilarating turn of foot against similar opposition.
Our friends at UBET have provided their best bets for a huge weekend of racing action.
BEST BET:
Rosehill Race 5 No.6 Egg Tart @ $2.80
She took all before her last prep and there's every indication she'll improve again. She's been backed off the map too, including a $4,000 bet at $3.40!
NEXT BEST:
Moonee Valley Race 5 No.2 Russian Revolution @ $3.40
He boasts an impeccable first up record and is the class runner in the race. He trialled up nicely for this behind Redzel, who came out last week and won, franking the form.
BOLTER:
Rosehill Race 3 No.6 Nat King Cu @ $16
Best double figure chance on the card! Gets a three kilo weight swing on the $1.80 favourtie, who only beat him home by half a length last time.
