Darlings of the Downs represent regions
WARWICK Showgirl Emma Boughen was among 16 girls to compete for the title of Miss Darling Downs in Toowoomba this weekend.
Ms Boughen has a long family history of show involvement. She won her first title, Miss Rosewood, in 2012.
"Once you start, you can't stop and you see your passions through," Ms Boughen said.
She was made Rosewood Rural Ambassador in 2014, and this year is both Warwick Showgirl and Stanthorpe Rural Ambassador.
The judging started with private interviews with the three judges, Cameron Robinson of Robinson Family Jewellers, Tina Fulton-Kennedy, Miss Darling Downs 1985 and Marisol Alamos, Telstra Business Development.
The girls then took to the catwalk and faced up to ABC Announcer Angus Lane for their public interviews.
The big question on the day was 'If there was one thing we could to change Australia, what would it be?'
Ms Boughen said that, for her, it would be to close the divide between city and rural Australia.
"Miss Goondiwindi, Michelle Mesner took out the prize. She's really well spoken, knowledgeable and has passion for the bush - her win was well deserved," Ms Boughen said of her fellow showgirl.
"I had a really great time and learnt a lot and hung out with some really passionate girls," Ms Boughen said.
"I hope to bring that back to the Warwick Show this weekend - Warwick is a great town to represent."
