Data on hospital's performance available online
SOUTHERN Downs residents have received greater insight into the performance of their local hospital, with emergency department activity and performance information now available on Queensland Health's Hospital Performance website.
Health Minister Lawrence Springborg said the Government's commitment to transparent performance reporting was demonstrated by the continuing rollout of technology, which allowed hospitals to report their performance data.
"We will continue to rollout the Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) to regional and rural facilities throughout the year," Mr Springborg said.
Residents of Barcaldine, Biloela, Cherbourg, Longreach and Roma also had their systems go online this week.
"EDIS allows health services to electronically record details of patients who present requiring emergency care," Mr Springborg said.
"Under this government, Queenslanders have an unparalleled insight into their health facilities.
"By the end of this year, a total of 57 Queensland Hospitals will be reporting their performance and activity online, an increase of 24 since the change of government.
"This is the second group of hospitals to begin reporting this year and this clearly demonstrates our commitment to open and honest reporting, outlined in the Blueprint for Better Healthcare in Queensland."
Information published for the six new reporting hospitals will include general information about the hospital including the number of staff employed, beds and services.
It will also detail the number of admissions, outpatient services and births at each hospital while showing waiting times and attendance numbers at emergency departments.
