FOOTBALL: The Warwick Wolves have preparations for the 2018 season under way, with the naming of their new committee.

Familiar face to football Cemeron Davey has taken on the top role of president.

"The club needed a new committee with old one stepping down,” Davey said.

"It's a way to give back to the club, and it gives me a bit of pride to be able to help the Wolves out.

Whilst this is Davey's first time in the role, the experience of vice-president Peter Darton and longevity of secretary Nick Lockley are set to make the task a bit easier.

"Peter has been both a president and treasurer before, and has plenty of experience on the committee side of things, which is good for us,” he said.

"Nick is fairly new to the role, but has been involved a long time through playing, and has kids involved now as well.”

With changes to the U18s competition for next season, Davey said he hoped the premiers from this season would play a major role in 2018.

"Toowoomba has restructured the seniors,” he said.

"A lot of the players from the U18s side will have to step up to senior mens, which will help with depth.

"We didn't have the numbers to fill two teams last year, with too many for one team and not enough for two.

"It will help the younger players progress being around the experienced players.”

The Warwick Wolves will have a general meeting on Monday night at the Warwick RSL from 6.30pm, with the club looking for people to fill various roles.
