Davson painting sets Oz record

ACCLAIMED artist Sharon Davson has set a new record after selling her painting, The Ark of Salvation, for $1.3 million.

The sale makes her the holder of the record price for a painting by a living Australian artist, topping John Olsen's Love In The Kitchen, which sold for $1.09 million in 2006.

On the Ark of Salvation depicts Davson's passions for our fragile planet, her concerns for endangered species and her ceaseless yearning for world peace.

Her major retrospective exhibition, With Gratitude for the Light, was shown in the Warwick Art Gallery in 2000. On The Ark of Salvation, was included in that exhibition.
