Big W DC staff continue to fight

THE STAFF of the Big W distribution centre were out on the main street at the weekend to fill their petition with local signatures.

The union members have been in an ongoing negotiation with their employer and have requested a better pay package and better redundancy deals.

On Saturday they hit the streets and got more than 60 signatures on their petition.

Union Member Sara Couper said the day's events were a success.

"It was really, really good," she said.

"About 99% of people said they support what we're doing."

The employees have given their company notice of a plan to take an hour's work stoppage whenever they like over the next three weeks.

"We're making a stand for every worker who doesn't get treated properly."
