Debutantes take a turn on the Test pitch
HOWZAT WITH MICHAEL BOURKE: The Australian cricket team for this week's Test match against South Africa appears to have more debutantes than I witnessed at the last local ball I attended. An injection of youth with these four debutantes is just what the Aussies needed as the Test selectors have broken a habit of bringing in players over 30. Hopefully Renshaw from Queensland isn't in the side as a stop gap until Shaun Marsh is fit again.
Lollipop saga
This week the South African cricket captain was reprimanded for ball tampering after using the juice from a lollipop to alter the cricket ball during the Second Test against Australia in Hobart so it would swing more. I remember facing a couple of bowlers in my U10 days who used to suck on lollipops and now understand why I was out-played for swing. Well that's the excuse I can use for my poor shot selection at the time even though those bowlers were sucking lollies for pleasure only.
Junior rep
The Warwick U12 and U14 sides travel to Dalby this weekend to take on Western Downs in what promises to be a couple of high scoring games.
Both Warwick sides will be confident after solid T20 performances.
Horse tip
My Saturday tip is for Malaguerra in the Group One Winterbottom Stakes.
