Decision on CEO

A NEW CEO has been appointed for the Southern Downs Regional Council.

Mayor Peter Blundell today announced the appointment of Andrew Roach to the position which was left vacate when Rod Ferguson's contract was terminated in June.

Mr Roach will start on Monday October 8.

"Andrew comes to council with a wealth of experience in the area of Local Government," Cr Blundell said.

"He has most recently worked for Jude Munro Consulting, a firm that works with Local Government and Government nationally and internationally, and he has also had CEO experience with Local Governments in New South Wales, namely Pt. Macquarie - Hastings and Blayney."

Mr Roach will attend the September general meeting at Stanthorpe on Wednesday to introduce himself and will also spend time in the Warwick Office prior to officially starting.

"Andrew is very much looking forward to becoming a part of our community," Cr Blundell said.

"Choosing the right person for this position is never easy, especially when there were so many excellent candidates to consider."

Acting CEO Andrew Ireland will continue as Acting CEO until Mr Roach starts on October 8.
