Dee and Darren win Block style war with perfect terrace

DEE and Darren won the final week of The Block with their perfect terrace.

The Melbourne couple received three perfect 10s from the judges for their small, but elegantly styled outdoor terrace with an additional mezzanine level which took in their city views.

The win follows Dee's outburst last week over the perceived unfair judging by Shaynna Blaze.

A week of wet weather hampered the construction of the outdoor living spaces, with many of the teams racing to the deadline.

The judges loved the timber cladding lining Michael and Carlene's void, calling their space an "urban oasis".

The Gold Coast parents finished half a point behind Dee and Darren, and would have won had they remembered to include the light that was a requirement from a previous challenge.

Max and Karstan, who will tie the knot on the show in the coming weeks, were the most relaxed couple of the week, impressing the judges with their vertical garden and pops of colour.

The judges were divided over Shannon and Simon's hanging plants.

While Blaze was concerned they might come crashing down, Neale and Darren liked how the brothers played with the vertical space.

"To me it is that far away from being absolutely brilliant," Neale Whitaker said.

Whitaker called it a "lux hipster's terrace" but Blaze called it "borderline boring".

Block battlers Chris and Jenna had the biggest total outdoor space to renovate and didn't quite finish.

They were praised for their vision for the downstairs terrace but the judges lamented the "missed opportunity" of their roof terrace.

The teams will spend the next two weeks renovating the "elephant" in the Glasshouse, the mysterious sixth apartment positioned between Shannon and Simon and Dee and Darren's apartments.

Deductions on their reserve prices will be up for grabs and as past seasons have shown, that could be a last-minute game changer.
