Defender ready to chase premiership in Aussie rules

AUSSIE RULES: Star defender Tony Chandler missed the Warwick Redbacks grand final win in 2014 but will be at Rockville Oval tomorrow determined to win the flag in the division two grand final against Dalby at 12.45pm.

"I started playing in the 2014 season and then was transferred to Charleville and missed the rest of the season,” he said.

He was transferred back to the Warwick area in 2016 and had three games last season before playing more footy this season.

"Dalby has a strong midfield and will apply the blow torch to us, but we should be able to bring home the silverware if we keep a cool head under pressure,” Chandler said.

"Every time we go into the forward 50 we need to convert our chances into goals.”

Chandler played his first AFL at Warwick State High in a Darling Downs school competition and remembers losing badly in the first game and then being unbeaten for the rest of two seasons of school footy.

"I am glad to be back playing with my little mate Andrew Bardsley, who was in the same team at Warwick High,” Chandler said.

"It will be good if we can win division two but I would rather be playing for Warwick in division one.

"There were good numbers at training on Tuesday night and good pressure on the footy. There is a great vibe in the club about the grand final.”

Barsdley is team captain and this year's division two best and fairest winner.
