Delays expected on the Cunningham Gap in the new year

MOTORISTS travelling on Cunningham's Gap can expect delays of up to 15 minutes during roadworks in the new year.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads will begin resurfacing 3km of bitumen on the Cunningham Hwy in a fortnight.

The work will begin on Tuesday, January 12 and is expected to finish on Friday, January 15.

Work will be carried out between 7am and 3pm.

Motorists are being encouraged to plan their journeys and factor in delays of up to 15 minutes during the roadworks.

One lane will remain open at all times, with traffic controllers in place to minimise delays. 40kmh speed limits will be in place during the roadworks.

Truck drivers can expect queued traffic on the steep approaches to Cunningham's Gap.

Drivers are reminded to drive to the changed traffic conditions and obey all signage and instructions from traffic controllers.

For more information, phone the department on 4639 0777 or email downsSWR@tmr.qld.gov.au.
