Denny becomes best hammer thrower in Queensland history
IT'S official, Allora has produced the best Queensland hammer thrower in history after Matthew Denny bettered 70 metres in open competition for the first time in Halle, Germany.
Denny and coach Grahame Pitt are currently based in Cologne, Germany, and competing in Europe.
He went overseas with an open hammer personal best of 69.7m and threw 70.52m in Halle.
The throw was a new Queensland and Australian record for an under-20 thrower with the open hammer (weight 7.26kg) and also a Queensland resident record in open competition.
He won gold in U20 discus with a throw of 66.66m and bronze in U23 hammer with his 70.52m throw.
Denny now has eight Queensland records and still has six months to go as a junior.
