AFTER winning gold on Friday, Allora thrower Matt Denny has won silver in open discus at the Australian Track and Field Championships in Brisbane.

He was second in the discus with a throw of 58.11m, behind No.1 ranked Australian Julian Wruck who won with 62.03m.

There was an international field in discus with Yuyi Tsutsumi, of Japan, fourth and New Zealander Marshal Hall sixth. There were nine in the final with the 9th placed thrower recording 43.25m. Carlee Beattie won more gold for the Southern Downs when she won the ambulant long jump with a leap of 5.46m.

New Zealand athlete Anna Grimaldi was second with 5.25m.
