Comment: Great winter weekend in Warwick

Comment: DESPITE some wild winter weather, Warwick certainly came alive at the weekend, with myriad sporting and social events keeping me busy.

It has certainly given me a newfound fondness for the cold.

We might not have had snow here but it certainly took some courage for athletes to brave the cold and take to the fields, paddocks, and trenches to compete.

A great enthusiasm came from the riders and shooters who set out to prove themselves in their respective sports over the two days.

It was also interesting to get a glimpse at two sports I am not familiar with and it was humbling to see the years of practice that go into the sport for each of these athletes.

The Water Rats and Redbacks were outstanding to watch as they battled it out in very close matches.

The Uber Markets were again buzzing and seem to grow larger each time I attend them, a testament to the passion of the community to be able to nurture a great local event right in the heart of Warwick.

Just one week away from Jumpers and Jazz in July, I have no doubt that this weekend has been but a preview of the vivacity the Rose City has to offer as it truly comes alive for its quirky winter festival.

With plenty to do for the festival I'm sure it will be even more of a riot.
