Disability Action Week kicks off
A FULL program of events has been compiled for Disability Action Week this week and people are being urged to get out and take advantage of the activities on offer.
The festivities kicked off last Friday with a fun day at WIRAC and organiser Mick McEniery said the entertainment had just begun, with dancing, swimming and golf all included in this week's agenda.
"If the fun day at the pool last week was anything to go by, it's going to be a very, very successful week," Mr McEniery said.
"We invite all people with disabilities, their carers and anybody who has an interest in helping people with disabilities to take part.
"They'll get to meet new people and be able to see what activities are available in the community."
Mr McEniery hopes the list of events will be just the start of a focus to encourage people with disabilities and their carers to remain active in community events.
