Disability Action Week now includes filmmaking workshop

DISABILITY Action week has arrived and Warwick residents have an action-packed list of events to choose from as they celebrate.

A signature event of this action week will be the addition of a filmmaking workshop.

People of all ages are encouraged to attend the workshops to learn how to shoot, edit and produce a short film.

Each workshop will have a public screening for the community to attend and watch.

Southern Downs Regional Council Mayor Peter Blundell said a DisABILITY Action Week committee had been working hard since March to organise the week of activities in the region.

"The committee has broad community representation across Southern Downs' services in Stanthorpe and Warwick and led by Southern Downs Regional Council," he said.

"It's also about raising awareness of disability issues, encouraging positive attitudes towards people with a disability and improving access and inclusion of people with a disability throughout the wider community.

"We ask everyone to take part in DisABILITY Action Week and show their support and this is a time for all residents to come together as a community to recognise everyone's abilities.

The first event to kick off the week will be a Buddy Up Golf Day to be run by the Warwick Golf Club.

Entries cost $10 and it will run from 1 to 6pm.
