Doctors allow family to speak to burns victim

DOCTORS have allowed family members to speak to Ipswich house fire victim Brianna Creenaune for the first time since she sustained horrific burns on Sunday.

The 16-year-old sustained burns to her back and arms after a section of burning ceiling collapsed on her during a fire at her Wulkuraka house.

She has been placed in an induced coma as she undergoes surgery and skin grafts, however doctors raised Brianna to a level of consciousness on Wednesday after she responded well from one of her operations.

This allowed family some precious time to speak with Brianna.

Brianna's mother Robyn Thomas - who is also still in hospital with burns - reported yesterday that doctors were impressed with the gutsy teenager's progress following surgery carried out on Wednesday.
