Dog squad and POLAIR helicopter assist in Coolum arrest

AROUND 3.15pm on Sunday, May 22 officers from the Sunshine Coast Dog Squad located a stolen Toyota Camry in the Coolum Beach area.

As police approached a nearby address to investigate, two offenders ran from the rear of the dwelling. One offender was tracked by a police dog through neighbouring gardens and was arrested.

A second offender was tracked by the Dog Squad to a large area of bushland adjacent to Emu Mountain, but police were unable to pin point the offender's location.

POLAIR attended the area and quickly searched two square kilometers of dense bushland. After a short time, POLAIR directed officers on the ground into almost inaccessible bush where the the second offender was located and arrested.

The offenders have been charged with a series of offences including possession of a knife, drug offences and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
