UPDATE: Arrest after man hunt for car thief in Greenmount

UPDATE: Police have arrested one person after a stolen car was found crashed into the front gate of a Greenmount property.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said a vehicle reported stolen a few days ago was found about 8.15am on Monday.

No one was inside the vehicle when police arrived at the scene, with the dog squad joining a police search in the area for the alleged offender. 

EARLIER: The dog squad has been tasked to help track down an offender joy-riding in a stolen car across the Mackay region.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said a vehicle reported stolen a few days ago was found crashed into a front gate of a Greenmount property about 8.15am Monday.

No one was inside the vehicle and it is believed the suspect left the area on foot.

The spokeswoman said the dog squad had joined a police search for the offender in the area.

Earlier Monday morning, a stolen car reportedly rammed another car at the intersection of Walz Rd and the Bruce Highway at Bakers Creek about 7.30am.

No injuries were reported and police are investigating the incident.

It is unknown at this stage whether the same stolen car involved in the ramming was found in Greenmount.
