Dogs hit the catwalk at Darling Downs Extravaganza

COMPETITION was of the highest level in Allora, as some of the top winning canines in Australia competed in the Darling Downs Extravaganza shows at the weekend.

Dogs from as far as Victoria were present for the five shows, which began on Friday morning and finished yesterday.

Among the big winners on the weekend was Preston the Puli, who travelled from Victoria with his breeder/owner Sue Huebner.

Pulis, which originate in Hungary, are famed for their Rastafarian-like corded coat.

Mrs Huebner, who has been breeding the Pulis for 35 years, said the cords were natural.

"They start cording at nine months old - the Pulis are fully mature when their coat hits the ground," she said.

"They are active clever dogs that get easily bored."
