Donations can help needy students
BACK to school can be an expensive time for families but a little bit of kindness can help needy kids hit the books earlier.
The local chaplaincy committee is now running its second back to school drive.
Warwick West chaplain Rosemary Easton said she hoped people would throw their support behind the group again this year.
"We started it last year and we had an overwhelming response and were able to give basic equipment to six schools," she said.
"The kids in Warwick need your help and too often kids come to school without the correct equipment."
Mrs Easton said children could feel left out and even despondent if they were the child in the class without the proper equipment.
Items donated would help ensure those kids were able to begin their work at the same time as their peers.
Donations of exercise books, pencils, pens, glue sticks, folders and any other school essentials can be dropped into the collection box next to Just Jeans in Rose City Shoppingworld.
Collections will be taken until January 23 and cash donations can also be made at the centre management office.
