Doorslammers leading netball

THE Doorslammers are leading the Warwick and District Netball Association A-grade competition in a tight run to the finals.

They are just ahead of the Big Guns, 62 points to 58 with the Hazards and Hot Shots bringing up third and fourth position respectively.

Association coaching convenor Belinda Fenton said there were just five rounds remaining before the September finals of the A-grade competition.

B and C grades still have six rounds remaining before they hit the finals, with just the top four qualifying for the play-offs.

“We have a good crowd for the finals last year,” Fenton said.

“Some of the teams change a lot over the years but the Big Guns (Young Guns last year), the 17 years representative team have been together since they were 12.

“The Young Guns won last year.”

Fenton said, with six teams in the A grade and seven in the B and C grade competitions respectively, Warwick senior netball had never been in a better position.

“This is the biggest our numbers have been, it is the strongest netball has ever been in Warwick,” she said.
