Double for returning hockey vet

CRAIG Mathison returned to his home town team to score two goals in the Warwick veterans 3-2 victory against Past High in Toowoomba hockey last Thursday.

Warwick trailed 2-0 at halftime before levelling after goals by Mathison and Greg McDonald.

Mathison scored his second seven minutes from fulltime for Warwick to lead 3-2 which was the final score.

Dave Jordan had another outstanding game in the forwards and was part of lead-up work to goals along with Phil Rolfe and Craig McKay.

McKay had another outstanding game in midfield and Craig Breadmore was strong at fullback.

Warwick now leads the points table in the veteran’s competition.

Mathison now resides in Gladstone but will play an occasional game for the Warwick team this season.

Warwick plays Newtown Tigers at 7.15pm Thursday at Clyde Park.

There are seven teams in the veteran’s competition and two games are played each week on the Toowoomba Hockey Association water-based synthetic and one game on the adjoining sand-based synthetic.
