Double for Toowoomba trainer in TAB meeting in Warwick
RACING: Toowoomba trainer Tony Sears had two horses in the Warwick Turf Club TAB meeting on Easter Monday and came away with wins in the first and third races.
Sears won the Olsens Produce/Freestone Feedlots QTIS Two-Year-old Maiden Plate with Pardoe and the Warwick RSL Memorial Club Open Handicap with Payback. Both were ridden to victory by Skye Bogenhuber.
His wife Leigh was in Warwick with the horses and said she couldn't ask for any more than two from two.
"Payback was bred at Lyndhurst Stud at Warwick and Tony bought him at the Magic Millions Sale for the current owners who couldn't be in Warwick for the meeting,” Leigh said.
"He now has five wins from 14 starts.”
Leigh said the $14,000 prizemoney in each race was an attraction to come to Warwick.
"The track looks enormous,” she said.
Warwick Turf Club president Phil Grant said it was the first Easter Monday meeting in Warwick so it was hard to know what to expect.
"We are happy with the crowd and the quality of the racing at Allman Park,” he said.
