Downs firefighters battle house blaze

A HOUSE has burned to the ground in Mingoola overnight.
Firefighters from Texas were called to the blaze at 10.53pm just over the border in New South Wales.
No occupants were in the house at the time of the fire as emergency services worked to secure the area.
Essential Energy workers were on hand to turn off power to the area and firefighters extinguished the fire and dampened down hotspots around the house.
They left the scene at 2.05am and returned this morning to check the scene to ensure the fire was not going to reignite.
