Downs Polo Club to host 14 teams this weekend at Clifton
POLO: Fourteen teams will play in the annual Downs Shield polo tournament at the Clifton Recreation Reserve this weekend.
Downs club publicity officer Jason Denny said one of the highest profile players would be current Test player Matthew Grimes who would travel from the Hunter Valley.
“The Downs club will field four teams,” Denny said.
“Some of the highest rated professional players in the nation will be at Clifton. Men and women will play in the same teams this weekend.”
Sunday is being promoted as Picnic at the Polo where patrons are encouraged to bring their own food and drink and park next to the fields.
“The picnic will be held for the second time and this year we are going to make a donation to drought relief,” Denny said.
The carnival will attract players from three states.
