Drag racers happy with weekend event at Morgan Park
IT WAS drag racing and horse racing on Saturday, hockey from Friday to Sunday, cricket on Saturday and Sunday and lots more in Warwick sport at the weekend.
There were 35 entries at the drags and Warwick District Drag Racing Association vice-president John Loy rated crowd numbers as "reasonable” for early in the season.
"The rain held off to later in the night and we had a great day,” he said.
All the drivers and riders had plenty of track time and lots of fun.
Warwick rider Damien Holyoak was the overall winner in the elimination bracket and Shane Wilkins from Stanthorpe runner up. Damien was one of half a dozen motorbike riders in the field.
The club is grateful for all the track officials and Unreal Trophies who provided trophies for an event which is part of the club championship.
There were no incidents so no vehicles will be heading for panel beaters or a paint shop in the next month.
The next event is March 11-12, the first round of the JP Racing Dragfest Series.
Racing at Allman Park
THE horses ran well at Allman Park in the St Mary's Race Day on Saturday, especially those with a No.1 on their back.
Three top weights won in a sport where the handicapper has a job to virtually ensure a photo finish in each race.
