Drags winner defends Warwick title
Motorsport: Four-time outlaws champion Andrew Lange is returning to Warwick Dragfest today to defend his title.
The Mudgereeba racer has held the title for the past two years with his current car, a Holdern Torana, and is hoping to add a third to his score of racing achievements.
"The car I own with my brother is a small block chev with an 8-71 supercharger that does 900 to 1000 horsepower, and minimal modifications compared to some of the other cars here,” Lange said.
"Competing here you've got to be the complete package with your dial-ins and reactions and you've got to be nothing less than 100%.
"Everyone who runs in the outlaws here in Warwick is a tough competitor, and the way it's structured with the three round robins makes it highly competitive.”
Lange said Warwick Dragfest had a great reputation in the drag racing community.
"We love this track and what Warwick Drag Club does for the sport,” Lange said.
"We try to race about five times at Willowbank and at least twice at Warwick each year.
"We fly out to America on Wednesday so the last thing we should be doing is racing this weekend but there was no way we would have missed this.
"I can't speak highly enough of the Loy family and the Dragway volunteers for the great job they do here.”
