LYN Stewart has been run off her feet answering phone calls with nominations for this weekend's Six Banger Nationals at the Warwick Dragway.

The Warwick District Drag Racing Association member said, going on the calls so far, she expected record nominations.

"We had close to 80 last year and will have more this year," she said.

"A driver left on Tuesday to travel from Victoria and I have two nominations from Cairns."

The overall winner of the event will win the Mark Stewart Memorial Trophy in memory of Lyn's husband.

The couple started the event in 2008 and it has been carried on after his death.

She said traditionally Holden would have the most motors in the Six Bangers.

Altereds and dragsters with six-cylinder motors qualify for the event.

Qualifying for the Six Banger Nationals is on Saturday with racing on Sunday.

The drag racing association will hold its regular bracket meeting on Saturday, the first since the winter break.

Lyn will race her Holden Gemini wagon on both days of competition.

Her son Norm, who lives in Newcastle, will compete in the motor bike class in the bracket meeting.
