Driver caught the day after

A MAN has been caught drunk at the wheel when he drove the morning after a night of heavy drinking.

Rodney David Fisher pleaded guilty in Ipswich Magistrates Court to the charge of driving under the influence.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Jo Colston said the 47-year-old was driving along Redbank Plains Rd when he was stopped by police about 10.30am on September 14.

Defence lawyer Matthew Fairclough said Fisher, a father of two, had made "an error of judgement".

He said Fisher had had a big night of drinking and not waited long enough for the alcohol to leave his system before driving the next morning.

Fisher was fined $750 and disqualified from holding a driver's licence for six months.

Over the limit with expired driver's licence

A KOREAN motorist who was driving on an expired licence has faced court for drink-driving.

At Ipswich Magistrates Court, Joonsang Lee, pleaded guilty to driving over the middle alcohol limit and unlicensed driving.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Matt Donnelly said police intercepted the 29-year-old at 4.50am after he was observed "swerving all over the road".

He was breath-tested and recorded a blood alcohol level of .133. The incident took place in East Ipswich on August 30 at 12.50am.

Speaking through a translator, Lee said he regretted driving while alcohol was in his system and if the situation arose again, he would ask someone else to drive.

He was fined $500 and disqualified from holding a licence for four months for both charges.
