Plant departs on winning note
DANIEL Plant has celebrated his last meeting in rookies class with a victory at the Warwick Karting Club meeting at Sandy Creek Raceway.
Plant won the class at yesterday’s meeting which is likely to win him his first club championship.
He was fourth in the Queensland Closed Championship at Sandy Creek in September.
“It is exciting to move up to the juniors next year,” Plant said.
In the midget’s class, Nic Lane won yesterday and is set to win his second championship in the class this year, an outstanding effort after only two years in the sport.
Plant and Lane compete regularly at Warwick (Sandy Creek), Lismore, Toowoomba and Ipswich tracks.
Plant has competed as far away as Rockhampton while Lane knows every corner of the Dubbo track.
The third Warwick-based schoolboy to do well yesterday was Shane Roberts who was second in the rotax light class.
The three will be in action again at Sandy Creek on December 11 for a club meeting as a forerunner to the club’s presentation night at the Jackie Howe Motel.
With a championship meeting at Gympie this weekend, numbers were down at the Warwick Karting Club meeting but there was still plenty of competitive racing.
