Driver 'steals fuel using false plates'

A DRIVER allegedly stole a jerry can of fuel from a petrol station in Allora this week.

At 3:45pm on Tuesday a silver commodore station wagon with New South Wales registration BC32HW, was driven to a service station on the New England Highway.

It is alleged that the driver exited the vehicle and removed at least one jerry can from the vehicle and dispensed fuel into it.

Due to the amount of fuel dispensed, which was 116.03 litres, and the type of vehicle, it is suspected that the man also filled several other items of fuel.

The driver reportedly placed all items back into the vehicle, re-entered the vehicle, and driven from the address without making any attempt to enter the store and pay for the fuel.

The plates attached to the vehicle are also allegedly false and the vehicle and man involved are nominated in two other incidents of the same nature occurring at Pittsworth and Park Ridge.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
