Driver taken to hospital after highway accident

A 49-YEAR old man was taken to Warwick Hospital after he was involved in a single-vehicle accident at Maryvale just before 6am. Sunday

Warwick police said there was a kangaroo on the highway at the same time as the accident happened.

The man was the single occupant of the car and was taken to hospital by the Queensland Ambulance Service with back pain. The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service helped paramedics remove the man from the vehicle.

Yangan police were also on the scene.

A Warwick police spokesman said as a general rule motorists were advised to keep their car straight when they spot a kangaroo and not swerve to avoid the kangaroo and go off the road or in to oncoming traffice.

"Drivers are advised to brake hard when they see a kangaroo but keep the car straight,” the spokesman said.
