Drop in clinic proves a hit at Condamine

STRUGGLING to see the doctor after a long night of the sniffles won't be an issue any longer thanks to a Warwick clinic's new initiative.

The Condamine Medical Centre has introduced a drop-in clinic to help those who need to get in early and see a professional.

The clinic, seeing walk-in patients from 8-9am each weekday morning, has been a successful venture according to Dr Lynton Hudson.

"It has been running for six to eight weeks now. There are five to six times available each weekday, and the slots are filled most mornings,” he said.

"Currently there is one doctor for the hour, but if we need to do more we will look at it.

"If people had been unwell the night before and can't get an appointment, it allows them to be able to see someone.

"Previously they might've gone to the hospital if they've had nowhere else to go.”

Dr Hudson said the centre wanted to provide residents with the greatest possible chance to be seen by a doctor.

"We're aware of GP availability and people being able to get in,” he said.

"It's why we're open until 7pm and open on Sunday. When people need us, we want to be there.

"Sometimes it needs to be sorted out in the day, so this means we can get stuff going, and we're looking at answers by midday.”
