Changes to drop-off and pick-up zones at West State School

DROP-OFF and pick-up zones around West State School are set to change from next week.

From Monday the Hudson St drop-off and pick-up zone will be relocated to Clarke St near the access gate due Education Queensland's building renewal project.

Engineering services director Peter See said works would begin on Friday afternoon to ensure there is minimal disruption to normal school traffic.

Relocation of the drop off/pick up zone to Clarke Street will not only solve the current access issues the School is having, it will also reduce traffic concerns in Hudson Street," he said.

"Hudson Street is quite a narrow street and can be very busy especially before and after school.

"Clarke Street, on the other hand, is much wider so traffic bottlenecks can be more easily avoided."

Additional line marking and parking bay works in Clarke Street adjacent to the school will also be carried out as part of the change.

The new zone will be operational for the start of school on Monday November 19.
