Drop-off zone to change

DROP-OFF and pick-up zones around West State School are set to change from next week.

From Monday the Hudson St drop-off and pick-up zone will be in Clarke St near the access gate, because of Education Queensland's building renewal project.

The works will begin on Friday afternoon to ensure there is minimal disruption to normal school traffic.

Moving the drop-off/pick-up zone to Clarke St would not only solve access issues the school was having at present, but would also reduce traffic concerns in Hudson St, council director Engineering Services Peter See said.

"Hudson St is quite a narrow street and can be very busy especially before and after school," he said.

"Clarke St, on the other hand, is much wider so traffic bottlenecks can be more easily avoided."

Additional line marking and parking bay works in Clarke St adjacent to the school will also be carried out as part of the change.

The new zone will be operational for the start of school next Monday, November 19.
