Drug use to fight pain of arthritis
A MAN caught with an illegal drug and utensils in his caravan said he used the substance to deal with severe pain.
Warwick police uncovered 2g of marijuana, a glass water pipe and a pair of scissors in Adam Lindsay Holt's caravan on April 12.
Although he was not present at the time of the search, Holt later attended the police station and admitted to owning the seized property.
Holt, a former truck driver, told police he used the drug to combat the pain associated with arthritis because it didn't make him drowsy like some prescription medicines would.
Defence counsel for the 49-year-old told the Warwick Magistrates Court his client no longer used the drug and chose to combat the pain with massage and stretches.
Holt pleaded guilty to possessing the items was fined $500.
No conviction was recorded against him and the illegal items were forfeited for destruction.
